Every summer, the GMRT and the Atlantic and Indian Ocean Regional Center for the Nippon Foundation - GEBCO Seabed 2030 Project opens its doors to college students who seek to gain foundational knowledge and skills in ocean mapping and bathymetric data management.
Students have the opportunity to:
- Work as part of a team to process, review and prepare data for integration into the global seafloor map.
- Learn how bathymetry data is collected and shared among international organizations.
- Learn how to process and integrate multibeam sonar data using open source and commercial software.
- Work with geospatial tools including GeoMapApp (GMA) and ArcGIS.
