Summer Seafloor Data Apprenticeship

Summer opportunity for students to participate in bathymetry data processing and contribute to GMRT and the Seabed 2030 Project

Every summer, the GMRT and the Atlantic and Indian Ocean Regional Center for the Nippon Foundation - GEBCO Seabed 2030 Project opens its doors to college students who seek to gain foundational knowledge and skills in ocean mapping and bathymetric data management.

Students have the opportunity to:

  • Work as part of a team to process, review and prepare data for integration into the global seafloor map.
  • Learn how bathymetry data is collected and shared among international organizations.
  • Learn how to process and integrate multibeam sonar data using open source and commercial software.
  • Work with geospatial tools including GeoMapApp (GMA) and ArcGIS.
